Hi, I love Firefox and have been using this browser over Chrome for years. However, for quite some time I have had problems with my search engine settings. My default is set on google but it always go back to yahoo search which is not even listed as options. Do I have to purchase something to get whatever it is doing this?

When you mean google are you talking the google(dot)com site? And is this the homepage.

Also for homepage did you look here yet:

How to set the home page https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-set-the-home-page#:~:text=Set%20your%20home%20page%20through%20Firefox%20Settings,-In%20the%20Menu&text=and%20select%20Settings.,URLs%20or%20a%20blank%20page.

You can check for recently installed suspicious or unknown extensions.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

You can do a malware scan just to be sure.
