Cannot sign into gmail. I just upgraded Firefox to 80.0.1. on a Mac laptop. The message I'm getting when trying to sign into gmail is: "Couldn't sign you in "This browser or app may not be secure. Learn more "Try using a different browser. If you’re already using a supported browser, you can refresh your screen and try again to sign in." I have always used Firefox for gmail. I'm not having problems with any other websites.

I looked at some of the problems people had with Firefox 74 and tried some of the solutions, but nothing has worked so far. What else should I try? I'm at my wits end.

You should also ask this question in the Google Support Forum. Try searching for Firefox and see what happens.

You appear to have a User-Agent Switcher extension.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
