lost all of my original bookmarks after updating. I tried the published articles with no success.

I copied my IE "Favorites" folder found in C:\Users\"MyName"\ . I created a new folder in Firefox Bookmarks\Other Bookmarks, naming it "Old Favorites". I then pasted the copied IE "Favorites" file (containing all my favorite websites) in this new folder. This saved the need to copy and paste or save each website individually. All of my bookmarks can be opened from the list of them in the file.
