How do I find my browsing history and bookmarks after Firefox went missing from the taskbar?

Dawny

Yesterday, I found my computer restarted. Don't know why. First I thought it was the usual updates. Then my configuration appeared changed. My Firefox and Word went missing from the task bar. All my saved passwords to various websites gone. I am able to find my Word documents and pictures but I would like to find my browsing history and bookmarks on Firefox. It appears that a new version of Firefox is there. Thank you for your help.

Do you still see profile folders when you browse the location used for profiles ?

The profile folder is in a hidden location in "AppData\Roaming". You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

You can go up one level to the Profiles folder and check for other possible profiles with a random name (e.g. xxxxxxxx.default-release).

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

Hi Dawny, did you already try a normal shutdown and restart of Windows? I suggest that because losing parts of your Windows configuration like Taskbar buttons could indicate a problem during Windows startup.
