You mean the menu icon on google? I see 11 options when I click it on Firefox 71. What are you seeing? Could you take a screenshot?

Thanks for responding.

Miraculously it has suddenly cleared up--after I started using Google Chrome a bit more.

I put these thing down to browser wars.

Google does not want me to have the control I enjoy in Mozilla Firefox.
