My firefox updated and I´ve lost all my passwords. No, I don´t use AVG. I need my passwords back.

I opened my Firefox yesterday and it had updated. I don´t use AVG, and this is the only thing I´ve found when I look up the issue. With this new Firefox update I´ve lost ALL OF MY PASSWORDS. I am extremely upset. How do I recover these?

I resolved this myself by uninstalling and reinstalling the program. Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

If you look in your Firefox profile folder do you see a logins.json.corrupt file in there? I assume you mentioned that you are not using AVG because you've heard of this issue happening to AVG users, but it can happen with Avast (same company as AVG) and other security software as well.

If you don't see that, go to the about:profiles page in Firefox. Do you see multiple profiles listed? If so, try the Launch profile in new browser button next to one of the other profiles and see if your passwords are saved in there. It's possible that a new profile was created for you when Firefox was updated and that Firefox is now loading that one by default.

Hope this helps.

I would like to talk to a person at Firefox. I have no idea what is happening. I don't see those extensions. I don't see more than one user. I simply logged in after an update. In fact, now the passwords I saved yesterday are gone. I don't use Avast, I don't use AVG. Not on this computer. The passwords are gone. How do I talk to a human and not a user forum? I am so upset.

I have this problem. I have used about:profiles. There is no additional profile. I have copied the profile and tried to replace what is there. None of this works. I have been an advocate of Firefox for a long time, but this problem is insufferable, and without a resolution to it I will move to another web browser. I am old and cannot remember passwords. It took three weeks to recover all from various sources, then the same thing happened again. If I have to go through that process again then it's the end of using Firefox.

Hi ajeary!

First, I'd recommend looking at the Fix passwords disappearing due to AVG security software page to see if that helps, regardless of whether or not you are using AVG.

I do not have AVG. I have logins.json. I have no corrupt version. Thank you for your email. I replied with carefully documented information with specific details. The file was returned to me. This window won't allow me to post either. I don't have time for this.
