FB keeps telling me there is a log in from an unusual account or location."We've noticed an unusual login from a device or location you don't usually use. Was this you?" I use a desk top, so my location is fixed and the times they note re the log in tie up with occcasions when I log into FB. I have told FB it is OK,but the alerts persist . Why is this and how do I stop it?

Hello AnotherITnovice,

Maybe I'm overly suspicious, but this just might be a scam, as mentioned here :

Hi AnotherITnovice, if this is very consistent -- you log in, and there's also a "suspicious" login at the same time -- I wonder whether one of your add-ons might be at fault? Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In its Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. (On Mac, hold down the option/alt key instead of the Shift key.)

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?

Jscher2000 Thank you. I will try this. McCoy-thanks for the aricle. I am not asked to click on any link, so I guess this is not a scam. Sorry for delay: I had to work out how to get to this page after the email reply.

If there is no FB logged in or FB addons then consider this a malware infection gone past your security software. And this would require a computer shop to find the problem.
