I have followed the direction to the letter in deleting a single bookmark or multiple bookmarks and neither work. In the direction when it states to open a bookmark it show the bookmark start in blue, mine doesn't turn blue. When I try to delete nothing happens. I never have really had this work as described. Is there a better set of directions available?

The star in the address bar is useful if you are on a page that is currently bookmarked and that's the bookmark you want to delete. Otherwise, you can find the bookmark on a menu or in the Library window, and delete it there.

Current Page

The star should be blue if the current page address matches one of your bookmarks. Click the star and then Remove Bookmark. Does that work?

Other Page

If you know the location of the bookmark on the menu, you can expand the menu, right-click the bookmark, and choose Delete.

If you do not normally display the menu bar (File, Edit, View...), or if you don't want to dig around on the menu to find it, try using either:

  • Bookmarks Sidebar (Ctrl+b)
  • Library window (Ctrl+Shift+b)

Both have a search box to speed up locating the bookmark, then you can right-click > Delete on the unwanted bookmark.

Success?

Sorry about not responding. I tried the suggestions and they didn't work. I've tried this suggestion "If you know the location of the bookmark on the menu, you can expand the menu, right-click the bookmark, and choose Delete." and it didn't work. This suggestion failed also "The star should be blue if the current page address matches one of your bookmarks. Click the star and then Remove Bookmark. Does that work?". The star does show up blue, but when I click the start and then remove it just stares at me.

The other issue is why does Firefox Show "Import From IE" then "From Internet Explorer" and "From Google Chrome". In the tab "From Google Chrome" when you click on any entry in the list nothing happens. In the "From Internet Explorer" it shows empty. When you import really all the should show up are the Bookmarks from the selected browser. That would make it simple to use.

What happened: did you not find the bookmark, or the context menu didn't generate, or Delete wasn't on it, or Delete had no effect?

Hmm.

Are there other problems with bookmarks such as not being able to add any new ones? Are there any problems with history?

Have you ever seen the error message described in this article: Fix "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" error message?

Did you try to remove the bookmark in the Bookmarks Manager (Library; Show All Bookmarks)?

These are the steps that I used: Clicked on the Library symbol > Bookmarks> Show All Bookmarks. Clicked on a Folder to open it. Selected an entry. Right clicked on the entry and selected Delete. Nothing happened.
