I yes when you reset Firefox you deleted your Dictionary. I hope that is all you downloaded as that should be all you needed. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/language-tools/

Hi peter354, Firefox doesn't have a built-in autocorrect feature like the ones you find on mobile device keyboards. Instead, Firefox will flag misspelled words with a wavy red underline and you can right-click (on Mac, Ctrl+click) to see suggestions from your current language dictionary.

If the built-in checker isn't working, perhaps you need to add a dictionary. Please see this article: How do I use the Firefox spell checker?

Did your Firefox work differently before? Possibly that feature was added by an extension. Unfortunately, after a Refresh, there's no convenient way to see what extensions you had installed before. I can describe a somewhat inconvenient way...

A Refresh should have moved your old Firefox profile folder (containing settings and add-ons) to your desktop inside an "Old Firefox Data" folder. Can you find that? Assuming so, double-click into that folder, then into the profile folder (usually named like a1b2c3d4.default).

Position Finder so you can see a page in Firefox behind it, and then drag and drop extensions.json onto the Firefox tab.

After a moment, Firefox should show a structured view of the data in that file, and you can look at the names of the extensions you had before the Refresh. Anything look like a missing autocorrect add-on?

Hopefully once you have the title, you can find it on the Add-ons site and reinstall it: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/extensions/

Thats just the thing it doent do,as you can see from this message. Im not exspecting it to change the word automaticly but its stopped underling ,ready for me to click on , and yes have ticked the box Check your spelling as you type and checked landquge

If you right-click in the editing box, does your context menu have a "Languages" sub-menu listing available language dictionaries? Mine just has U.S. English, but this will vary depending on which "locale" of Firefox you use.

Hi yes it does and have clicked the english uk box I thought this might just be a corruped software so removed from hard drive to trash and reloaded direct from firefox .still no go ,I even have a firefox on my emulator PC which also has stopped checking for spelling mistakes

While you're on the right-click menu: when you right-click in a very simple form element like the ones on this site, is there a check mark before "Check Spelling" indicating that Firefox thinks it is supposed to check the current form element? And it has a dictionary, but it won't mark misspellings?

Hmm... I wonder if there is a display issue where the wavy underlines are simply not visible due to an issue with color or spacing or something.

In case there is an incompatibility with your graphics card/chipset software, could you test with hardware acceleration disabled in Firefox? This article will get you to the relevant part of the Preferences page: Firefox's performance settings. That change takes effect the next time you Quit and restart Firefox.

It seems that it is necessary to down load a add on to get it to work why as I dont have it on my pc, and despite my earlier comments it didn't work on my pc ,that was wrong, both are now underlining errors again
