webpages no longer show icons properly since the last update
I no longer have icons on any websites that I browse, so I have no idea what should be clicked and what shouldn't. If this can't be resolved quickly, I may have to switch back to chrome. Its frustrating when you click something and end up closing the browser.
Chosen solution
The little code in the box indicates that the font Firefox is using, and other fonts it may have checked, are missing that character.
Except for emoji's, which Firefox includes now, many of these icons require a downloadable font. Font downloading can be blocked by changing a preference in Firefox (in about:config), or by an add-on. Can you think of any add-ons you use that could be blocking downloadable fonts??
Is that Twitter in your screenshot? It looks like their fonts are hosted on this server:
Just in case your ad blocker thinks "abs" looks a little too much like "ads"!
Or maybe it's some other site that has Moments...

Hi, there appears to be an issue that only affects users who have turned off cleartype font rendering within their windows settings. So a workaround for the moment would either be to turn cleartype back on or disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/performance-settings
Please let us know if this solved the issue.
Hi supportX, what do you see where the icons normally appear?
- blank space
- broken picture icon
- tall box with two rows of two characters
- something else
Can you attach a screenshot?
- use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
Make sure you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
- Options/Preferences -> General: Fonts & Colors -> Advanced
[X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
Make sure you allow pages to choose their own colors and that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings..
- Options/Preferences -> General: Fonts & Colors -> Colors: "Override the colors specified by the page with my selections above"
Try "Never" if the default "Only with High Contrast themes" isn't working.
My browser already has this option in effect, but thanks for trying.
Hi, please give this a try : SAFE MODE
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:
- all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
- default theme is used (no persona)
- userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
- default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
- Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
- hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
- plugins are not affected
- preferences are not affected
TEST
It won't allow me to post the screenshot. The other suggestions don't work either.

My adblocker disabled on twitter gave back the icons. The other website is yahoo, and I don't even care about that one. There is no way i'll unblock ads on that page. Thank you for your help. Much appreciated.
I don't know which ad blocker you use, but maybe ask them how you can unblock fonts without unblocking ads. They might be on the same server, but they are different types of files.
Oh, actually you listed your add-ons. For uBlock Origin, this is a good place to get support:

It seems there was an option in Ublock that was preventing remote fonts from loading. Once unchecked, it worked perfectly everywhere! Thanks for your help. It solved the problem.
