Recently I had some open windows on my browser and my computer froze up and I had no other option but to do a hard reboot so it would work again. Each time I have been in this situation before, I was able to restore my current session when I reopened Firefox. I got that option as usual and attempted to restore my last session. Unfortunately only one of the prior windows opened came back up, along with the tabs that was with that page. The other windows did not reappear. I am using windows 10 operating system, Firefox Quantum 58.0.2 (64-bit) browser, I was not able to restore the prior windows. I then I decided to check my history for that time period, no problem. I searched through the history to see if by chance some of the listings would give an indication of distinguishing those windows from the other information. I was not really expecting this to be so, but it was worth a try just in case. As I had expected no dice. so I paused to study further. I decided to try to save the history from that period because I did not have the time to go through every entry and didn't even remember what those windows mentioned could possibly be in those listings. I made my first attempt to save, getting the same results that I later discovered had been an issue with other users . I investigated further into that subject in the help section, while still there, to see if I had any alternative options. There were instructions there on how to save the history from a certain period into a notepad file then save as a HTML file which would make the entries into links that I could search through when I had the opportunity. I followed those instructions step by step. The only thing that was saved on the notepad file was the actual title "last seven days" nothing more, not even a list of the entries from that period. Why try to save the notepad file into HTML format to make links when there were no listings there to do so? My question is as follows : Is that answer and the instructions actually able to be done. If so, would you please send me step by step instructions on how to accomplish this. If this not a feasible option, Please inform me what would be my best alternatives to try. I really need to save the entries which will allow me to investigate into them further when my schedule allows. I request any input be sent in ASAP. I don't want to have to save the whole month's history entries to go through if it is not necessary. Time is running short. I'm afraid to close my browser until I get a chance to accomplish task. I greatly appreciate any and all input that can be sent concerning this issue. I thank everyone in advance, who attempts to help me resolve this issue. God Bless you all.

Hi RMJr, that's a very long question...

Session History

... attempted to restore my last session. Unfortunately only one of the prior windows opened came back up, along with the tabs that was with that page. The other windows did not reappear.

Did you try the "Recently Closed Windows" list? You can access that using either:

  • "Library" toolbar button () > History > Recently Closed Windows
  • (menu bar) History > Recently Closed Windows
You may need to tap the Alt key or F10 key to show the menu bar

Browsing History

There were instructions there on how to save the history from a certain period into a notepad file then save as a HTML file which would make the entries into links that I could search through when I had the opportunity. I followed those instructions step by step. The only thing that was saved on the notepad file was the actual title "last seven days" nothing more, not even a list of the entries from that period. I don't know what instructions you were following. Do you have a link to that thread?

You can call up the Library window using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+h
  • "Library" toolbar button () > History > Show All History
  • (menu bar) History > Show All History
You may need to tap the Alt key or F10 key to show the menu bar

If you select a bunch of entries on the right side of the Library window, copy using either right-click > Copy or Ctrl+c, then paste somewhere, you get a plain list of links. The page title and date/time are not included. Would that be useful?

Thank you so much for your assistance. I appreciate all the effort you gave to help me very much. It wasn't exactly what I had In mind but that may have been my misinterpretation of the post I had mentioned in my original question. Regardless of that, your solution worked out very well for me and you just don't know how much your help has meant to me. I can now close my browser without fear of losing what I needed. God Bless You.
