How can you set the datetime of a downloaded file to the last-modified date of the server's file?

After completed a download, I'd like for the file's metadata to be the same as it were on the server. I know that last-modified date is available in the header so it should be possible to at least set the modified date to this value.

Is this something that could potentially be done with an addon?

You can't it downloads and saves the date you downloaded at. Only software that I used that matches the server date is FDM v3. And it's free but from my experience using such software that's the only one that will do it but you have to configure it so that it will match the server date otherwise it left as it will save as the downloaded date on it.
