Clicking "Allow" does not stop "Firefox prevented... automatically reloading"
Take a look, for example, at this site: "http://www.aviationweather.gov/satellite/plot?region=bwi" It always comes up with the message, "Firefox prevented this page from automatically reloading," even though the page appears to be working properly. Worse, **clicking the "Allow" button appears to have no effect**; the message just appears again and again. All I have found to get rid of it (only until I manually reload the site) is to click the "X" on the right end.
I'm now running vs. 57.0.3 under Windows 7 SP1 and also using the NoScript extension to permit all but google-analytics scripts, but this problem is not new to "Quantum." It's been annoying me for I can't remember how long. It doesn't happen with any other site that I visit regularly. Several specific questions:
1) What about this particular site generates the "automatically reloading" error message and why? (I suppose this feature is meant to protect me some class of malicious exploits, but there should be nothing malicious about this US Government site.)
2) What is the "Allow" button supposed to do in this case? Is it broken?
3) If "Allow" is not broken, why is it not helping in this case"
4) What can I do to eliminate this annoyance (preferably for this particular site so that I don't diminish Firefox's security in general)?
Thanks in advance for any clarification. -- jclarkw

In Firefox 56+ the "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page" setting can no longer be found in Options/Preferences.
You can modify this pref on the about:config page to enable or disable this feature
The "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page" warning is meant as an accessibility feature so people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and isn't meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer
Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.3 with a Full Version Installer
Possibly broken. Do not use noscript for that site at all.

Dear Pkshadow -- Thank you for your recommendation, but I must say it sounds a bit extreme (reminiscent of some of the "solutions" offered by official Microsoft representatives on answers.microsoft.com -- the ones who never return to the threads they drive by). It would help me a lot if you said WHY you're recommending each of these steps.
1) Did you note in my OP that "...this problem is not new to "Quantum." It's been annoying me for I can't remember how long" -- certainly prior to vs. 56.
2) Do you mean that the "Allow" button might be broken in Mozilla software or because of some corruption in my installation?
3) I should know this, but how does one exempt a particular site from NoScript without turning it off entirely?
4) If (2) or (3) is the problem, why am I doing all of the other stuff?
Best Regards -- jclarkw

That is exactly why I asked you do to that. Extreme is coming back here 15 times doing this and that, and over here and over there. Just do it, or do not. No extreme at all as am sure you can back up your bookmarks to HTML like I did in 95 and still have them today. Backup your profile and is saved. Do not need anything else.
If still issues then it is in your Profile and yes will be coming back. Again, I ........do it or do not.
Would you prefer this one : Please Refresh but do this 1st:
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
then
TEST....... If no issues then Extensions which need to be added back in 1 at a time and tested ..... Or it is your Profile : Make a new one and test ...:
If is your Profile :
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
Note: Any customization will revert back to default, you will also need to reinstall Extensions.

A website can do more than one redirect and this feature has been removed from the user interface because it wasn't working properly anyway and only worked in specific cases (meta tag) and not in other like a location redirect. It is best left disabled to prevent issues as there can be cases where the redirect is blocked, but no notification is shown like in an iframe.

Two follow-ups if I may:
1) When I first upgraded to "Quantum," I checked the box, "Prevent accessibility services from accessing your browser" in Options/Privacy and Security/Permissions. Is this related or unrelated to your suggestion?
2) When I search for blockautorefresh in about:config, I find two entries, not one -- see attached image. Which (or both?) should I be resetting to "False?"
Thanks again -- jclarkw
You only need to reset the first pref.
- accessibility.blockautorefresh
You can leave services.sync.prefs.sync prefs alone. These pref specify what prefs to include in syncing prefs.

Thanks! That fixed my immediate problem. Whether or not there are other underlying problems, as implied by pkshadow (though he hasn't said why he thinks so), I don't yet know... -- jclarkw
