Chosen solution

Well, something got fixed. I accidentally clicked on the install new version button and thought I was in for another restore, BUT, the new version seems to be working correctly now.

Not too thrilled with Sponge Bob Square Pants look but I can live with that.

Biggest issue now, and I know there is nothing can be done, all my bookmarks were destroyed in the first install of the new version.....they are still gone......Oh Well...they can be restored but that shouldn't have happened...

Thanks anyway...

Don

p.s. It wants me to indicate if a post solved the problem....the answer to that is no but someone, somewhere did solve the problem so I'll mark it solved......MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL......:)

Hello,

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

If Firefox created another Profile your bookmarks still maybe there. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recover-lost-or-missing-bookmarks and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

It isn't completely possible to use the Australis design with Firefox 57, but depending on what you want, you might be able to customize the UI to look more like the old one: This project: https://github.com/wilfredwee/photon-australis lets you have the old tab bar appearance back in Firefox 57. You can remove the space around the address bar by right-clicking on the spaces, and choosing "remove from toolbar". Note the Black Theme is just a Example and can be found in Customize.

It is out there and more will come. It just is not in the same place.
