Firefox has no FTP plugin
I rely on FireFTP for work. This new update removed that ability! Is it possible that we've lost that central of a functionality in an "update"???
Quick -- someone tell me how to roll back so I can get some work done!
What kind of an update removes a key developer functionality?

Support Volunteers can't make changes to Firefox , but we can help you with troubleshooting your question. I would be happy to help. Mozilla built a new Browser using new code and up to the standards and practices of the W3C.org (World Wide Web Consortium) they are in charge of what and how Browsers should be built and interact Like HTML5 Video. Also in charge of practices and standards of web pages and the under lying code.
So with that information as said Firefox built and gave the Developers of Extensions a few years notice to rewrite their code. Some Developers like FireFTP decided they could not make it or .... So FireFTP has nothing to do with Mozilla other than their program was approved and they were granted a web page on Mozilla servers.
I use Filezilla https://filezilla-project.org a standalone product.
So you do have a option but for how long I am not sure, WaterFox https://waterfoxproject.org still can use the Developers Extension as for Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 is no longer safe to use for every day use, but 52.5.0 ESR is ! It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ and you can use the Extension on this version. Do not try to run both versions, issues will happen. If want to run 57 go to the Developers Version https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/developer/ as it has a compatibility mode at the end of the install.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Install Older Version Of Firefox {web link} Be sure to read everything here.
If you still want to downgrade, look under; I still want to downgrade. Click the Directory of other versions and languages link. Look for the directory of the version that you want. But, remember that old versions may have security issues.

Thank you. I understand that the browser isn't responsible for the add-on developer's choices. I'd just hoped that with all of these amazing developer tools, someone would see FTP as important...at least as important as emojis?? I did install FileZilla and have almost got the PUPs uninstalled that came with it.
Mostly I'm just frustrated at losing what was a vital tool in my work flow. How do people do web development without FTP??
But thank you for your responses. The developer version is probably a solution for me. I'm exploring it now. I do want the security fixes...which is why I upgraded.
Well, that and I was excited about the new toys. 'bit less so now, though!
