I have tried FF 57.0.0 and 0.1 and both seem to have removed many of the options I have been used to. I went back to 56.0.3 and there I see 8 options in Tools/Options. In version 57 I see only 4 options. Perhaps some of these were condensed, but I cannot find the most used for me option which was "advanced options". I often used the clear cache button vs more cumbersome methods. I would be very disappointed if this was removed and I had to stick with a less secure version.

Chosen solution

Note that you can use the search bar on the about:preferences page to filter for specific settings.

In Firefox 56 you can set this pref to true on the about:config page to revert to the previous appearance of the Options/Preferences page.

  • browser.preferences.useOldOrganization = true

hi, the options have been reshuffled a bit but not removed - you can clear the cache in the privacy & security section!

I endorse the search bar on the Options page. Type 'cach' and after a brief pause, the section you want is right there. No more click Advanced, then click Network, then finally... But if you hate to type, then I guess it's not going to be as convenient for you.

The change in Options came with Firefox 56.0.

Advanced is gone - the preferences that were there have been moved or 'hidden' in the user interface and now need to be 'fiddled' with in about:config .

You probably went back to Fx 55.0.3. There isn't a Firefox 56.0.3 version; 56.0.1 is being readied for release next week.

Sounds like a good trick, but I do not see a search bar. Typing cach in search window brings up a Google search. I am happy to have the old options back though.

This is about the small search bar that you see on the newly designed about:preferences page in the top right corner with browser.preferences.useOldOrganization set to false. This search bar is part of the about:preferences page.
