When I open a new tab a yellow banner appears with an image of a spyglass informing me I can do something wonderful. I don't want to do something wonderful. I want to use the bookmark toolbar hidden beneath the banner.

These tips should disappear and no longer show after you have seen them a few times.

You can set these pref to to 0 on the about:config page if you have them and they are greater that 0.

  • browser.urlbar.daysBeforeHidingSuggestionsPrompt = 0
  • browser.urlbar.timesBeforeHidingSuggestionsHint = 0

I think someone posted a screenshot of that in a different thread, and there was a link on the right side to look at some settings. Could you try that link once so Firefox knows you have seen that information, and hopefully it will not come back?

Also, the yellow stripe appears because the cursor is in the address bar and it is the top row on the drop-down. If you press the Tab key to move the cursor out of the address bar, the stripe should disappear. Not that you would want to do that all the time...
