How do I run java in Firefox?
Many US government websites use java applets to search databases. I need to do that for my work. How can I do it? Until just recently I had no problems running java in Firefox, then an update was installed, and suddenly I cannot figure out how to do it. What happened, and why? Is there a fix?
Chosen solution
Firefox 52 and later releases only support the Shockwave Flash plugin and disable all other plugins. If you need to use other plugins then you can use the Firefox 52 ESR release. Otherwise you can stay with the current Firefox release version. For Java you would need the 32 bit Firefox 52 ESR version.
Why-do-Java-Silverlight-Adobe-Acrobat-and-other-plugins-no longer work.
Firefox 52.2.1 ESR:

Just to underline one part of that:
Your Firefox indicates it is 32-bit Firefox running on 64-bit Windows. You should stick with the 32-bit version of the Extended Support Release, too, because 64-bit Firefox doesn't run the Java plugin (just Flash and Silverlight).
