Each time I close Firefox I get an error message saying that 'FireFox has stopped working'. I get the option to close it which is fine, but it has already been closed. This happens every time i manually close the software, and has only started to do this within the past few days. I have done virus checks etc and my system is clean, so what may be causing this issue?

FF last version has problems. To close FF w/o the error message, shut down Malwarebytes (or poss Spybot S&D, if that is running), and FF shuts down normally. Also, now cant log into yahoo normally. Hope Mozilla has some fix coming. [Running Win7, FF 54 32bit, Norton Security Suite, Malwarebytes].

How long has this been going on? Did it start when you updated to Firefox 54?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Check out some 'safe' websites. Then close Firefox.

Is the problem still there?

If I start Firefox in safe mode, I still get the same error message.... :o(

Yep, that's it..... GOOD CATCH. FF is NOT compatible with Malwarebytes - at least for this latest version. One would think they would have tested it before releasing it. Obviously not.

I am also running Malwarebytes and Norton Security, great programs and they have prevented me from inheriting any viruses so far. Once I closed Malwarebytes, FF would close normally however I had to reboot in order to reload Malwarebytes.

I will keep my Malwarebytes running anyway. It is an annoying issue to have to constantly close the error message but it's better then not having the protection.

Contact Malwarebytes support.

FireFox was just updated to ver 54 on June 13, which is approximately when all this started to happen..... doesnt that sound just a BIT weird....?

I have also contacted Malwarebytes, but no response back yet. I'll update my post once I get some valid information

Here is the FIX:

(At least for me running Firefox under Windows 8.1 Pro)

Enable, by setting the pref to true on the about:config page:

browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 = true

While there confirm:

browser.tabs.remote.autostart = true

With both set to true the “Firefox has stopped working" error Pop-up

message, when Exiting is no longer .

The remaining question:

Why was such a simple error allowed to be a part of the last two

upgrades?

[P.S. Throughout the existence of this Firefox error, Spybot S&D has been

fully running, confirming that Spybot is NOT the cause of this error.]
