Chosen solution

Hi, as FredMcD said, if you don't remove your profile, bookmarks etc should be saved.

See under the heading Remove user data and settings in Uninstall Firefox from your computer

For even greater bookmarks security, before you uninstall; open bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import and Backup > Backup, and save them to somewhere convenient on your computer.

Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

If you're having problems with Firefox, refreshing it can help. The refresh feature fixes many issues by restoring Firefox to its default state while saving your essential information like bookmarks, passwords, and open tabs.

Firefox comes in two or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And one folder in the profile of each user on the computer.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user folders would not be affected.

i got round to finally deleting FF and reinstalling it. Then i was offered to "refresh" it saying it would speed it up and reinstall bookmarks , the thing is that bookmarks were already recovered and i assume it would be speedy cause it was a fresh install. what is this about please

anyway i chose refresh , then cancelled it before it was finished , re booted , then was offered a choice of 2 profiles, i chose one

why was i offer refresh immediately after i reinstalled it .this dosn't seem right should i do a complete uninstall [all traces of it] to start fresh

thanks

That 'refresh' message is from the browser and sometimes comes up when it thinks there is a problem.
