Firefox suddenly can't load games that I play all the time

A few days ago games I play regularly no longer load in firefox - they get to 'almost there' 18/24 then just stop - no progress, no error messages. Same thing happens on some facebook games too. Firefox used to be my main browser, but I'm now thinking about deleting it as performance has seriously deteriorated. No problems with Chrome

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).
