HTM or HTML, which is it?
Hi,
I'm trying to import a folder + it won't let me because only .html are allowed, which it says it is but the folder says .htm. Why do F'fox html files have .htm for the title if they are in fact html files? Is it just a personal conspiracy aimed specifically at me designed to confuse me + generally cause me grief? I don't want to sound paranoid but they've been out to get me for years.....................

Thanks for the replies, I'm comfortable with the fact neither of you are in on it with "them", I can sense no threat so I'm happy to proceed. I'm aware Firefox uses HTML files, it's the fact they're labeled HTM that's the problem. All I was trying to do was import my bookmarks from one online manager to another + I was told it would only accept HTML files, which of course they are it's just that they're marked .HTM!
As is so often the case I can't help but feel that this oddity should be made clear as anything non Mozillian has trouble with HTML files not being 'coded' .HTML . The solution is simple enough, as it turns out, + that's to stick a "l" on to the .htm manually. Why it's necessary to do so in the first place is what bugs me, 'que sera'. Thanks, again, for taking the time to respond, it's much appreciated.

Firefox uses HTML files. Try renaming that file. Does it work?

A folder of what??
If you are trying to import Internet Explorer Favorites from the Windows Favorites folder, you have two options:
(1) Assuming it is the standard folder, see: Import Bookmarks and other data from Microsoft Edge.
(2) If it not the standard folder, you either need to copy the favorites into the standard folder, or create an HTML file in a standard format that Firefox can read. For that file, either file extension (.htm or .html) should work in that situation.
This might help: Import Internet Explorer Favorites from another computer.

The trick here is; While to us humans the file extensions mean the same thing, to the programs in the computer they are different.
