Probably you were using either an add-on (such as Classic Theme Restorer) or a custom style rule to move the tabs above the menu bar.

If the add-on or custom style rule has recently gone missing, is it possible you used the Refresh feature? This would have moved your old settings folder to the desktop inside an Old Firefox Data folder. Do you see anything like that?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
