Thunderbird keeps downloading, or redownloading messages every time I open it up.
I can not find this postedate file. It happened since the new update I think. I have searched for answers, but all seem not to work. I have loved using thunderbird as an alternative to Outlook but I am about to give up.
Surely there is no need for this to keep happening. I don't want to use something that is downloading constantly in the background and slowing down my computer.
Please can someone help from Mozilla and please, I am not a computer wizard!

Thunderbird is branded Mozilla, but it is not created by Mozilla. So your unlikely to have your wish of anyone from Mozilla popping in.
I assume the account is IMAP, but what mail provider?
Hi Matt, Yes it is IMAP and my mail provider is Hotmail. It is working so badly now, when I click even on the 'sent' folder nothing is there and I keep getting messages that there are problems with the server...but internet working fine. I am wondering if I should uninstall and then reinstall. :(
re: and I keep getting messages that there are problems with the server
Please post the exact error message...word for word.
I am posting this, not as a fix, but to link three support topics which have certain commonalities. Perhaps the three affected individuals might share some information and perhaps a common software, isp or hardware might emerge.

Hi Matt, I checked all the links and I don't think it solves anything. I have a suspicion that it is an update. I have given up using Thunderbird, which I was loving because I now hate and loathe Hotmail or Outlook or Windows Live or whatever it is called, with all its ads. I am going to try one more time hoping any recent update will fix the problem. :( Thanks for your help
