"Edit this bookmark" not working

Recently upgraded to FF 40.0.2 (Windows 7)

Before, when I'd select 'bookmark this page' I'd get a popup I could edit the name and tags. Now, I don't see anything happen. It clearly bookmarked the page, because the Bookmarks menu now displays 'edit this bookmark' -- however, when I click on that, it doesn't do anything either.

I can't find any setting or reason why this isn't working correctly; your help appreciated!

Chosen solution

Someone elsewhere suggested it might be an add-on.

I tried disabling the Tree Style Tab add-on and bookmarking works as before. I will try to find out if the developer plans to fix it.

Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.

Run all the tests.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

That was very good work. Well Done. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem so others will know.

Fred, there's no 'solved problem' link but the post seems to be marked 'chosen solution' anyway. Thanks for everyone's guidance.
