thank you, this shows that you are having a user.js file in your profile which is rather unusual as it overwrites your custom settings and might be a sign of adware on a system unless you have created that manually. please try this: go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information > profile folder - "show folder", then a new window will open up. in this window look out for a file named user.js, delete or rename this file.

you might also want to run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner as well.

No juse.js file located. Also have run Malwarebytes and Spybot

in this case please try to refresh firefox and see if this makes a difference...

The refresh worked. Ver 39 was updated to ver 40 by the refresh. Thanks for your help.
