If you change your default browser to Firefox on Windows 10 or 11, Web links will automatically open in Firefox.
Note: This article applies to Windows 10 or Windows 11. For previous versions of Windows, see Make Firefox your default browser. If you don’t currently have Firefox installed on your computer, first download and install Firefox.

Make Firefox your default browser in Firefox Settings
- In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click and select .Click the menu button
and select .
- In the General panel, find the Startup section.
- If Firefox isn't currently set as your default browser, you'll see the message "Firefox is not your default browser". Click the button to set Firefox as your default.
Note: Otherwise, you'll see the message "Firefox is currently your default browser".
If Firefox was not able to change your default browser, it'll open the Windows Settings app with the Default apps panel already open. You'll have to manually update your Windows settings to make Firefox your default browser.
Manually change your default browser to Firefox in Windows Settings (Windows 10)
- If the Windows Settings app with the Default apps panel isn't open, open it:
- Click the Windows Start button.
- Type "Default apps" and select .
- Under Web browser, click the browser currently listed.
- Under Choose an app, click Firefox to set it as the default browser.
Manually change your default browser to Firefox in Windows Settings (Windows 11)
- If the Windows Settings app with the Default apps panel isn't open, open it:
- Click the Windows Start button.
- Type "Default apps" and select .
- Select Firefox from the list.
- Under Set default file types or link types, find the Make Firefox your default browser prompt at the top of the window and click .
