Cannot activate Adobe flash; 'always activate' is not an option
Last night, I was running a program and everything was fine. I logged back in, and it would not load. It said "activate Adobe Flash", but when I clicked the link, it wouldn't go anywhere. I went ahead and updated Flash, closed the browser, and reopened. Didn't solve the problem. I found the add-on in the Tools menu, but the only option that isn't grayed-out is 'never activate'. This also happened on my work computer today. Some sites offered the drop-down box of activating it, but the one I want to use (fine, it's Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook) will NOT offer it. I even added the extension for offering to ask whether or not to use Flash. Please help me. This is getting on my nerves having to use Chrome. Btw, my home computer is Windows 7 and my work is Vista. I have never had this problem before.

Adobe released an update early today to resolve the critical issues it admitted were in the 18.0.0.203 version. You can get 18.0.0.209 on this page:
https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html
In the first table, look for the row for "plugin-based browsers" and you can use either the EXE or the MSI installer.
To make sure the updater can clear out the old version, either Exit Firefox while running the update, or close all tabs that are using Flash.
For future reference, when Flash is set to "Ask to Activate" and you visit a site that wants to use Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and usually one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.
Flash games on Facebook usually are framed from the publisher's site, so maybe that confused Firefox??
If you see a good reason to use Flash, and the site looks trustworthy, you can go ahead and click the Lego-like icon in the address bar to allow Flash. You can choose to allow for a while or allow permanently.
But some pages use Flash only for tracking or playing ads, so if you don't see an immediate need for Flash, feel free to ignore the notification. It will just sit there in case you want it later.

Oh my gosh thank you thank you thank you! That update is what did it! For whatever reason, the update I was using directly from their site didn't work. Thanks again so much!
