After I clicked on New Tab all open tabs changed to new tabs

I had 4 tabs open and I needed to see my email account, so I clicked on the plus sign. All the open tabs, plus four more, opened to New Tab. Because I did not close the browser, what happened?

You can start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
