firefox portable version 36 or lower. What gives? When it updated I lost thousands of bookmarks. And... while I'm at it, what is this "start a conversation" changing my homepage?? And.. this bbc news feeds under bookmarks, phoning home everytime I start FF?? Come on guys, who did this, this really sucks (sorry). I want options, security, freedom to choose; what is this? Thanks in advance. I'm trying really hard to be nice, but I'm sooo disappointed.

Firefox would normally only do that if you would open the Help > about window.

See this article about the Hello button (WebRTC;Real-Time Communications)

You can check the home page setting:

  • Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page

Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.

Thank you for the quick reply. This is nice to know about the 'hello' thing, but it doesn't address my question. Can someone address this pushing behavior of firefox? The option for "never update" does NOT work. I, and I'm sure many others don't want any new features. When you have it working just the way you want it, someone comes along and changes it without permission. What kind of security is that?? I have loved FF from the very beginning and have install it on 1000's of PC's(IT guy), but... Is this the future? BBC, hello, updates with no control, phoning home without permission? Thanks as always.
