Remove firefox desktop toolbar - it is in the way
There is a "search the web" toolbar across the top of my desktop. It gets in the way. I do not want it. How to remove it?

Please provide a screenshot of that "desktop toolbar". Sure doesn't sound like anything that comes with Firefox.

It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.
Then use the Browse .... button below the Post a Reply text box to upload the screenshot.Read this answer in context 👍 0

You can check for recently installed suspicious or unknown extensions.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
