How do I stop Firefox logging into my gmail account everytime I go to Google search page?

I have set Google as my home page, so every time I start FF it logs into one of my Gmail accounts. Always the least used one too. I would prefer it to not do that and hope there is a solution.

Make sure that the box to remember you on the Gmail log in page doesn't have a tick.

Details like websites remembering you (log you in automatically) are stored in a cookie.

  • Create a cookie 'allow' exception to keep such cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
  • Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
