The browser you're using refuses to sign in. (cookies rejected) and I have tried EVERY FIX shown in these threads. why wont it let me log in?

I get The browser you're using refuses to sign in. (cookies rejected) no matter what I do on yahoo. Help. I have yahoo in my "allow" cookies always option. I have accept third party cookies selected. I've tried deleting the "prefs" file in my troubleshooting profile folder and nothing works. Yet, I can log on using IE with no problems. I hate IE and want to use FF. Is there a fix for this or what?

Other info. I use adblocker plus, but have it disabled on yahoo.com. That didnt work. I also use privacy choice trackblocker and better privacy extensions.

You can't attach a screenshot to the first post that starts a thread, but you can do that in subsequent replies.

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies got corrupted.

  • Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

I ended up having to go through the extensions. The culprit was my "privacy choice trackerblock" extension. More specifically, privacy choice trakerblock>options>tracker blocking>yahoo! Ad Network>uncheck the box. Oddly enough, there is a tab for "opt-out of cookies" with a yahoo option as well. But unchecking that did nothing and the issue continued with that box checked or un-checked. the only one that solved the problem was unchecking the yahoo box under the tracker blocking tab.

I hope this helps someone else with this issue. Thank you for your guidance.
