My Firefox just stopped recognizing my proxy settings. It doesn't even matter if I have settings in the fields or not...I can have it set to manual and leave the proxy field and port field blank and it will still connect to internet. I set the proxy settings in IE and Chrome and they work correctly....any suggestions?

Chosen solution

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You may have to remove No Proxy for localhost to force the proxy when you enter the manual settings in Firefox Menu > Options > Advanced > Network > Choose How Firefox Connects to the Internet.

That didn't work....it is like there is some hidden setting that overrides anything I do in FireFox and shows my local ip.....totally lost on this one.

I really can't even use FireFox at this point to privately surf the net. Stuck using IE....sucks.
