This question, I'm sure, has been asked before. I just can't seem to find the CORRECT solution. This has been going on now for, I know, a year or more. I just get tired of trying to find the solution so I just deal with it. Well, I've got to the point that someone has had to have the same problem as I and has found the solution. Problem: Almost(not every time), when I open a link in a new window, after the site opens, FF immediately switches back to the originating website from where I clicked the link. I then I have to reselect the the new window for FF to refocus on it. This does not seem to be version specific only because FF has updated its versions multiple times over a year and still having the same issue. Of course, no other browser I use does this. I've always been a FF fan so don't like to use other browsers much.

FYI; FF 31.0, WIn7x64 is up to date. All software(Adobe, DX, slvrlt, etc) is up to date as well. No Java installed.

Many have reported this issue. It has also happened to me. I will be working in one Firefox window, and another FF window pops up.

I didn't see any add-ons listed except for the troubleshooter. Do you have any? How about added toolbars?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences

Then Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

This could be a bug related to the protected mode feature of the Flash plugin. If Flash has not been used for 3 minutes, the next time you launch a window that uses Flash, while protected mode is setting up, the Flash plugin flips the previous Firefox window into focus. There is work underway to block this in a future version of Firefox, but for now, you can try the workarounds in this thread: Opening New Windows and Shockwave Flash.
