I'm using Firefox 31.0, but even Mozilla tells me I'm using an older version.
I always update to the latest version. Even though I'm using 31.0 right now, I checked with Mozilla website last night and was directed to "upgrade" again. I did so. Today, right now while writing this a message in a green button is telling me to upgrade. I use Malwarebytes Anti Malware Pro, so I'm guessing that's not the problem. I use Yahoo! mail and this has stopped the new version and allows me only to use Basic. Firefox ad-ons gray-out anything that can't be used with version 10 or older. Yet "About Firefox" in the help menu shows version 31.0, latest version. So, am I stuck with some old cookie that won't delete? I tried deleting all and that changed nothing, although I'm not sure I know every location where they are stored. The bottom line is that this is a real pain in the ass, because I'm limited on other sites as well, because something is sayin I don't have the latest version. Can someone help?

Did you delete the browser information ("user agent string") from your post? To see how your Firefox is identifying itself to websites, you can use my test page here: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/jstest.php
If a specific old version is listed, you may have the issue described in this article: How to reset the default user agent on Firefox.
If the user agent indicates it is masked or partially blocked, or if it is completely missing, you might have an extension that is modifying it or external security/privacy software that is blocking it.

Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.
- Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
For Firefox versions previous to 29.0:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox"
button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
For Firefox 29.0 and above:
- Click the menu button
, click help
and select Troubleshooting Information. Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
- At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Reset Firefox"
. Click on it.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Thank you so much. Resetting the user agent string settings as per your instructions in the article " Websites say that Firefox is outdated or incompatible even though it's the latest version." was just the right solution. Again thank you for such a quick response with just what I needed.
