I have links to files on a web page that is just on internal servers. Whenever I click those links in FF they turn the first case of the drive letter lower case and claim the link is broken. I retype the upper case initial drive letter and press enter and receive my files. The HTML shows an uppercase letter in the link.

Chosen solution

Such a issue can be caused by an installed extension or less likely by proxy software.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
