that might be a problem with some add-ons, have you tried running fire-fox in safe mode?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode; Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences

Then Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites and see if there is still a problem. Then restart

still doesn't work. works in safe mode though...weird. Mac user by the way, everything updated

If something works in safe mode but not otherwise, it probably means that an extension is blocking it. Start disabling extensions until you find out which one is the problem.

One of both of those is probably causing that fault. Get rid of them.

We have seen reports about a Community Toolbar extension causing this issue with not being able to open a new tab.
