Update to Google Chrome?
NOTE - THE CHOSEN SOLUTION BELOW WAS NOT CHOSEN BY ME, I DO NOT SUPPORT IT IN ANY WAY, AND HAVE ASKED THAT THEY REMOVE ANYTHING INDICATING I CHOSE THAT SOLUTION.
I've been using Firefox for like a decade now. Never in this decade have I ever had to sign into support until now.
Firefox autoupdated, which usually I have turned off and clearly should have left off, and now it's like I'm looking at Google Chrome! What. the. Hell? I don't know if this has anything to do with getting rid of ..... but if Firefox all of a sudden is now some Google Chrome knock off I'm OUT. OF. HERE. The icons, the way the tabs look, plug ins disabled.... If I wanted Google Chrome, you know what I would download? GOOGLE CHROME!!!
For the Love of ... REVERT REVERT REVERT REVERT REVERT REVERT!!!!!!
Oh, that's right, I can't revert either!!!
You may think it's not a big deal, but each time I see a company start trying to copy one of the tech giants like Apple, Google, etc, product quality and customer focus drops like a rock.
Google Chrome? No Thank You!! Give me back firefox please.

Problem solved, switching to another browser!
Tell Mozilla I said thanks for the slap in the face after ten years!

I understand your frustration and surprise at the removal of these features but I can't undo these changes. I'm just a support volunteer and I do not work for Mozilla so getting angry with me won't do any good. But you can send any feedback about these changes to http://input.mozilla.org/feedback. Firefox developers collect data submitted through there then present it at the weekly Firefox meeting.

There was a previous way by going through the Options menu to disable updates but after disabling it through there, when you would go to Help > About Firefox, it would update regardless of that setting.
You can set these prefs in about:config
to disable automatic updating:
app.update.auto - false
app.update.enabled - false
app.update.silent - false
REVERT REVERT REVERT REVERT REVERT REVERT!!!!!!
You can do that via the Install an older version of Firefox link but be aware of the risks you take when downgrading to an older version.
Here are a few suggestions for restoring the old design. I hope you’ll find one that works for you:
- Use the Classic Theme Restorer to bring back the old design. Learn more here: How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox
- Use the Add-on Bar Restored to bring back the add-on bar. Learn more here: What happened to the Add-on Bar?
I appreciate your general desire to help, but this isn't me looking for a 'fix.' I will NOT download an add-on just to restore original functionality. This also isn't a 'removal of features,' it's a BLATANT copying of a product that the majority of Firefox users HATE. Clearly the execs left over at Mozilla are just brain-dead or something and have no contact with user base.
Every single customer that used firefox but would prefer Chrome ALREADY HAS CHROME. This is not just my imagination either. I started to google 'Firefox 29..." and google auto-filled in the rest for me: 'Firefox 29... looks like Google Chrome.' There are already articles all over the internet talking about it, and no one likes it. This 'issue' stays open until next update, when it either gets reverted back or I find a new web browser all together. Dolphin works great on my android, maybe I should drop firefox like a hot rock and switch?
KNOW YOUR CUSTOMER BASE MOZILLA.

Venting your frustration over these changes here won't help as developers don't come onto this site. You're not going to find anyone from Mozilla's developer team as this site is completely volunteer-run.
Feel free to switch over to an alternative browser or use the Install an older version of Firefox link to downgrade from the Australis UI back to good ol' 28. Keep in mind that remaining on an old version will likely open Firefox to security holes that are patched in the latest version.

Also, why does it list your first answer as my 'chosen solution?' It's not.
Is this question/answer forum for people expressing/solving issues or is this just the new hangout for corporate apologists?
Seriously, already got palemoon browser (that is my 'Chosen Solution'), was going to just let this go, but why are you claiming I chose a solution I most certainly DID NOT CHOOSE?
Arg, when you guys let Brendan Eich go, I just knew you guys had lost your minds and were going down the tubes...
Please correct the 'Chosen Answer' section, or I will be reposting this problem with as many usernames as need be. Do NOT, under any circumstances, speak for me, thank you very much.

I've removed that. I didn't add that, I thought you did. No matter, it's removed.

Read above. I didn't mark it I thought you did. It really doesn't matter anymore.

Done....
<pre> Arg, when you guys let Brendan Eich go, I just knew you guys had lost your minds and were going down the tubes...
Oh, people are very mistaken about what happened. I thought the days of answering Eich questions were over.
I hope that's everything you need.
This isn't to set you off or anthing bro, but watch closely over the next couple years. You will see beyond the shadow of a doubt that losing Eich was a huge turning point for Mozilla, and not for the best.
Sure some of the media hounds scream real loud and seem like their a million people screaming when they do, but you will find that opinion among most of your lay-person users was that the whole fiasco with Eich, and the result of him resigning, willingly or not, was a ridiculous witch hunt. Firefox is all about inclusiveness, until popular opinion(which swings all over the place) dictates otherwise, then their happy not to support one of their own.
You will find, over these next couple years, that people no longer trust Mozilla the way they did, and no-one at Mozilla will be able to remedy that, it's just done.
Whether or not Mozilla employees employ it, or just allow the public to employ it for them and claim their hands are clean, there clearly is a litmus test for working with Mozilla.
EDIT: I Did NOT Lock this thread. As Trupiaar accused me of doing so, thanks for that mystery mod who locked it.
Losing Brendan was not a plus for Mozilla but a huge loss rather. He was one of the co-founders of Mozilla project in early 1998 and after AOL shut down the Netscape browser unit in July 2003, Eich helped spin out the Mozilla Foundation. He was loyal in staying with them the whole time (unlike some others who went off to other companies over the years) until he left due to the harsh attacks towards him. Mozilla was not about to abandon somebody like that as it was not as if he was only there for only some months or a outside hire.
Mozilla knew about the controversial support prop 8 donation for at least two years already as it was public record and written about in LA Times then. They supported him for who he is to promote him from CTO to CEO. The board and others tried to convince him to stay in some capacity when he decided to leave as he could have perhaps one back to being CTO.
The Mozilla employees supported him when he became CEO including LGBT ones. However I recall seeing a comment by a dev in the SeaMonkey community that stated he knows of at least two LGBT employees that were attacked even more extreme for supporting Brendan as they even received death threats to show how closed minded some people can be. https://brendaneich.com/2014/03/inclusiveness-at-mozilla/
People campaigned to have Brendan resign from CEO and then when Brendan decided to not only step down but to leave also, people then switched their attacks on to Mozilla in their belief that Brendan must have been fired or forced out instead of believing that he simply left as his way of helping Mozilla. In fact Brendan refused to bow to the attacks pressure right up to day before as per http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/apr/01/mozilla-ceo-brendan-eich-refuses-to-quit
Since he was not fired nor forced out, I would like to think he could work for or at Mozilla again in some capacity if he wanted. He may not be able to go back as CTO at moment though though as Andreas Gal is currently in that position.
https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2014/04/05/faq-on-ceo-resignation/
It did not help that many article writers helped fuel the attacks on Mozilla by incorrectly stating he was fired or forced or ousted before some were corrected later.
In the end with the potential controversy that could happen (and did) due to this controversial support donation, The board and Brendan should have perhaps in hindsight played it more safe by making him the interim CEO in meantime like they did with Chris Beard.
