About every three days after everything has been working fine, the right click function on my mouse stops working on Firefox. Only Firefox, everything else is fine. I have to restart firefox to get it going again.

I have no new add-ons. It's not all the time and not every day. I believe it started with 55.0.1 update. Very quickly 55.0.2 came out and I thought ah-ha, those good people know about it and this is a fix. But the same thing still happens.

Not every day and never in the morning, just every few days and late in the day. Only on Firefox, not on Thunderbird nor on desktop icons. After restarting it all works for another couple of days and it goes again.

Hmm, that is very odd. Let's do this first;

Type about:support in the address bar and press Enter. Under the main banner, press the button; Copy Text To Clipboard.. Now in the Reply Box on the forum page, do a right-click in the box and select Paste.

This will show us your system details. No Personal Information Is Collected.

What is the Firefox memory usage when this happens? See also the about:memory page.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

No idea what memory usage is when it happens. I could look next time but that could be in a couple of days time. Default? Doesn't that lose all my choices? I've seen answers to similar issues about disabling re-enabling add-ons individually to identify the issue.

Quite honestly, while I'd rather not have this issue, having to restart firefox every 2 or 3 days isn't a huge problem. I can even work around copy/paste by control and C or V if my attempts at copying is what leads me to discover right click just stopped. Oh, and to close firefox I have to do it via task manager too as the right click on the X doesn't work when it happens. I should have mentioned that.

It's such a small problem it should have a small fix.

Note that the about:profiles page includes a button to restart Firefox, so you do not have to wait unknown time to prevent getting the error that Firefox is already running if Firefox hasn't finished closing.

I don't follow. Closing and restarting takes a few seconds.

Looks like it's been a week without it happening again.

It started round about the time of update 55 0 1. 55 0 2 didn't change it but it's not happened since 55 0 3.

Unless it's coincidence, 55 0 3 fixed it.

Ver .0.3 looks to have fixed several issues. But still, a few left over.

I am still having this problem and I am on version 55.03.

After some time with the browser opening I find the right click no longer working. (It is not the mouse as it still works in other applications). Also some left click stops working - noticeably the menu button top right corner.

Let me know if you want more info though some is difficult to get to when the menu button stops, and presumably only useful when the problem is occurring. Temporary fix - shutting Firefox and restarting - does clear the problem for now.

That is exactly it. Have to close FF via the task manager as the close button doesn't respond to left click.

It's happened twice since I thought I'd seen the last of it so it's only about once a week now.

It's only really annoying when I'm in the middle of something like a blog/forum comment and I'm looking at a site on another tab. I discover it's happened because that bit of text I want to copy/paste doesn't respond to the mouse. But if I can at least highlight it, then I have the ctrl C/V options to do the same thing.

Just once I've had to give up and restart FF attempting torecover the session, but I've also noticed that recovery box doesn't behave as it used to. It used to be a simple yes or no to restore last session.

I select the tabs I had open and click to get them back and it doesn't actually work  :(

The close button needs a Left-click.

Not sure I understand all of FredMcD post above!

Why would I want to crash Firefox? I can end it successfully with the X button, wait a few moments and restart. This solves the problem until the next time.

I can't find an Undo button to unmark the thread as Solved - possibly because I did not raise the problem in the first place, just add to it as I still have the problem.

Although the issue is annoying, it is not enough for me to back-version with all the issues that presents. It is more the case that I want the developers to know about the problem so that it can get fixed in a subsequent release.
