I'm trying to get rid of these blue selector things. Apologies that I don't know what they're called. They appear at random times and I cannot force them to appear. Just happens randomly it seems when some text is selected.

Can something in the about:config be toggled to disable this?

Firefox keeps attempting to access a web site with an unwanted application. The site is mv.outbrain.com and my virus software keeps asking to block the site. The popup is now becoming a nuisance how do I stop it or delete the reference to it

I have maybe forty simple tab groups (I'm a teacher) and have set STG to automatically back up. But I have no idea how to restore my simple tab groups from these backups. FYI I have an HP Spectre 360 laptop.

i cannot print any web page from Firefox. The print option only offers me the option to save as PDF. Firefox is not detecting either my Brother laser printer or my Epson inkjet printer. if i use the print using system dialogue option fire fox shows a printer screen which has a simple entry of line prntr. If that is selected nothing at all happens. Clearly Firefox cannot detect my printers. If I save the web pages to a PDF file then open that file I can then get the normal system printing options and print the page. But all that does is clutter up my file system with files I will only ever use once. This proves the problem is clearly in Firefox and in its inability to detect system printers. I have tried all the suggestions from the help screens to no avail. Is there any other means of sorting this print problem.

In trying to solve my problem, I am going from bad to worse! Embarrassing! Screenshot of Chinese character issue is attached. Also, when I try to sign into Firefox from that page - https://support.cdn.mozilla.net/hi-IN/questions/1381354 - I am blocked from signing in. Somehow I am signed in now, but not sure how. duh! So first, the Chinese characters I need to solve, THEN have a question about an issue with mailto - no gmail default option. I have legacy handlers downloaded, kindly provided by jscher2000. Thank you! Do I drag his legacy handlers into my profile, if I am able to do so? I have tried all other suggestions on this problem. I really hope not to have to start anew with Firefox, because I have years of settings I am afraid I will lose. (Know it is doable, but I am a coward, as well as stupid, apparently.) FF 109 added a new addons-button (jigsaw puzzle icon) in the addons-toolbar. Can we hide it with a specific variable in about:config, or by creating a specific variable there?

I upgraded Firefox to 109.0 on OpenSUSE Linux today as an update. Firefox no longer plays videos. Chrome is still playing the videos, so the codecs are on my machine. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Firefox always uses excessive GPU memory when I watch video and livestream. about:memory shows that the explict GPU memory allocation is only about 200 MB but in the task manager the GPU memory usage is 1GB, and the latter doesn't decrease even if I close the tab. I suspect that this is a memory leak. I searched for Bugzilla and found a similar issue that has been existing for years: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1386177

I use the Windows registry FontSubstitutes (Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes) to replace system fonts like Segoe UI with other fonts. It takes a lot of work to get Windows itself to respect these options, to the extent that I have to make it believe Segoe UI isn't present by modifying a different registry location (Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts).

However, Firefox does not respect the FontSubstitutes settings. Based on a previous post here, this is something it did prior to Firefox 89, but has stopped doing.

An ideal solution would be a way for Firefox to correctly read my FontSubstitutes settings. An acceptable workaround would be a way to provide Segoe UI for Firefox to use while still preventing its use in other applications. (I know that, for instance, Adobe Photoshop allows users to install fonts to Photoshop itself, bypassing the system fonts folder entirely.)

Hi. I bought new pc, and i'm trying to set up mozilla with all my passwords and bookmarks, from old pc. But after i logged in, bookmarks and passwords dont appear in a browser. I had so much important stuff there that im now kinda scared. Thanks for any help in advance

Clicking the mousewheel still works, but scrolling doesn't work. This behavior occurs on tab bar as well.

Using option "Restart with addon disabled" from about:profiles can make the mousewheel scrolling work, but manually disabled all addon and restart just won't solve it.

I installed TotalAV webshield & now firefox won't open full screen. I disable webshield, Firefox opens full screen. BUT I use webshield on chrome with NO ISSUES. I contacted TotalAV, and they said the issue is with Firefox. So...why is Firefox having an issue opening fullscreen when I enable webshield?

Noticed yesterday but not as prominent, firefox suddenly steals all window focus, trying to do anything in any other window is pushed into firefox no matter if it is minimised or in another workspace. I have tested this in a clean install along with a clean profile. Bitwarden and other windows seem to act weird when they are interacted with.

This all works well and good on b8 and stable. I am using wayland (Ubuntu 22.* default), but xwayland is available.

I found a really unusual behavior.

If I close Firefox using the "x" at the top right of the window, the Windows default for close, it does not restore session no matter what I do. I can manually go to the settings, history, recently closed windows, and restore them from there, of course - but that is a definitive hassle.

Strangely, even if I open up a new tab less than 2 seconds before I hit the X to close, it will not restore the session but does indeed save the new tab to the previous.jsonlz4 file, and makes that available via going through the settings menu.

What is oddly more unusual is that if I close Firefox by way of ctrl-shift-q, it works fine (opening Firefox after ctrl-shift-q restores the session without any extra intervention required).

How do I make Firefox recognize closing via the bog-standard-since-windows-3.11-for-workgroups X in the top right of the window as properly closing/quitting?

since the latest update (17/1/23) Firefox seems to Hang then lockup then freeze then unfreeze when just browsing.

no special tabs open such as Youtube- just locks up on browsing 2 tabs plus- google search on 1 and facebook on 1 tab-closed the google search tab then scrolling through Facebook,froze after 3 scrolls of the wheel,locked up then unfroze

My extensions take up a lot of space in my toolbar and I'd love to hide all of them. However - every 'solution' to the problem tells me to right click the extension straight from the toolbar and click 'Hide from Toolbar'.

I do remember this option existing, however I couldn't find it since last update and I'm assuming it was removed. Is there any way to use it again?

^ (Small note, It would also be lovely if I could add them to the Extensions add-on in the toolbar, as that would really be a better use for it other than overflow)

I reinstalled my computer from scratch with Windows 11, before this reinstallation I had Windows 10. Now I noticed that with the newest Firefox version 109 (that I also had before with Windows 10) and Windows 11 my multirow bookmarks toolbar doesn´t work anymore. Before the reinstallation it worked with the following code:

I already tried some other codes that I found in the internet but none of them worked. I have this code in the file userChrome.css, this file is in a chrome folder and this folder is in my profile folder. Can anybody tell me what I have to do to make the multirow bookmarks toolbar working again?

I asked this a couple of years ago - ! But the problem apparently is BAAAAACCCKKKK.....

In my list of bookmarks I have inserted SEPARATOR lines. I cannot find how to delete a separator line. There doesn't seem to be any up to date information online about how to handle this - can someone help?

In the previous fix I would click the three-line icon at top right and to into MANAGING BOOKMARKS, where there was a way to see the list, and I could click on and delete any separator lines I wanted to remove.

Apparently in the newest version of FF this no longer works. Now when I go to Manage Bookmarks, there is a list of my bookmarks, but I don't see any of the separator lines.

I'd be truly grateful for help - thank you in advance.
