Emailed pix cannot be opened in PhotoShop. Message is: "Could not complete your request because a JPEG marker segment length is too short (the file may be truncated or incomplete)." .jpg files open in iPhoto via Mac Mail and can then be opened in PS.

I have reset the password a couple of times on advice of Rogers, but that did not any good. Then Rogers gave up and said to talk to Thunderbird, since I can only send email using the same Authentication, when using my cell phone or their email address on their website. Today It was working intially on both my PC and Laptop and Cell. Then it started failing on all. After resetting the password for the first time, it worked on the PC and on the Laptop, but not on the cell. Then I reset the password again and then it was working on the Cell and the PC but not on the laptop. Then the PC stopped authentication too. Now only my cell is working. I can only send email from my Rogers account on their website or from my cell. That's when Rogers decided that it was out of their hands. Someting may be wong with Thunderboid...

It used to be a rare occurence, but now every single time I close TB and shortly thereafter, during the same session, I try to re-launch tb I have to call up Task Mgr and kill thunderbird.exe. It is an annoyance which I would like to get rid of. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Cannot download POP3 emails.

Win8.1 using Tbird 24.5.0. Download of emails became intermittent in mid-May. As of 6/4, none can be downloaded. No problem sending emails. I have a POP3 account with Earthlink. I started Tbird in safe mode via Help > Restart with ad-ons disabled.

The status bar at the bottom stated that I was connected to pop.earthlink.net. Then it stated that is was 'Downloading message 1 of 116'. After a while with no messages coming in, it stated 'No messages to download'. It never said downloading message 2, so I don't think the messages went somewhere unknown.

This is the situation with my Windows firewall disabled and with my G Data antivirus disabled. I've tried various other things after reading that others are having a similar problem. Earthlink support verifies that I have the right setup. I uninstalled Tbird and reinstalled. I removed the account and added a new one -- and lost my saved emails until I went to my backup. Someone mentioned a ad blocker. I have one on Chrome from Adblock Plus; I don't see how that would affect Thunderbird.

I have to Ctl,Alt, Del to close Thunderbird.

I am on Thunderbird 29.0 - got upgraded to a beta version unintentionally.

Now, when I start typing in an address when writing an email no names pop up, even though the beginning letters clearly refer to an address or name in my address book. Every email address has to be typed in from scratch. only red letters appear. Problem.

Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server mail1.eircom.net responded failed. Could not determine server.

This is now the 3rd profile I've created to get help. 1st profile required confirmation of email before a reply. That's stupid when I can't get in my email to begin with!… (read more)

That's stupid when I can't get in my email to begin with! 2nd profile I stupidly gave wrong email address to my working 2nd account. 3rd profile corrected that. So, can't get in my email. Message shows above. Deleted global thing as suggested by help. Nothing. What do I do now?

Since the previous release of T-B autocomplete no longer suggests names. In addition, the name filed defaults to a red colour type font, and I also notice I have 5 separate instances of personal address book, collected address book and MAC OS X address book....

I can Email my wife at [elainefraser43@hotmail.co.uk] from my Gmail account:

BUT, when I attempt to Email HER via "Thunderbird" my Emails are rejected, and I get the above-mentioned Unknown address error 550-"SC-002 [COLO-MC3-F42] failure message!!

This is all WELL above my head!!

Please can you explain what needs to be done here???

I am using 24.4 Windows 7. My online account only has one copy of each email. All my other devices with Thunderbird on them work fine. This has been happening since April 3. I use avasti. I am so tired of deleting and would appreciate help. It is discouraging that I cannot contact Mozilla Thunderbird directly.

When "Real-Time Scanning" is running, Thunderbird goes to "not responding" for a minute or so and CPU usage often goes to 100 %. If I turn off "Real-Time Scanning" TB seems to work okay, but I expect I am vulnerable to viruses. This problem has been going on for a couple of weeks.

I used to use "Avira" with no problems but McAfee is provided "free" to subscribers.

I run Win7. Very frequently in TB's lower left corner, it shows that messages are downloading. Recently the download time has lengthened appreciably, even when the message does not contain attachments. Also moving from one message to the other takes considerable time. Since this started three days ago, I have uninstalled any programs added in that period. MalwareBytes' scan run daily has no malware. Also have uninstalled the anti-spam on my McAfee a/v.

Any other suggestions on why this might occur?

I just installed the latest release of Mozilla Thunderbird (24.4.0) and I'm trying to create a "Vacation Response". I read on the Mozilla Support site:

Another option is to create a Message Filter and respond to all incoming messages with a template.

I've created a template and saved it and then I tried to create a message filter. However there is not an option to "Reply with Template" in the list of choices for the action to perform. I see action choices, for "Copy Message To", "Move Message To" and "Forward Message To", but not "Reply with Template".

Why is it missing and how to I get it to appear?

I've tried all the fixes, but TB is soooooooooo slow to delete messages 9-30secs each time.

If I hit delete 2 times when it;s not responding, it will eventually delete 2 emails. I have tried top disable all the add-ons-no change; 1 deleted and re-indexed the global-df etc-no change. For some reason, thunderbird (windows 8) has essentially stopped working. Over a minute to open an email--all other functions have similar delays. I tried to archive, but I keep getting a message that says that a script has stopped working. It does the same in thunderbird safe mode. My old computer (XP) works fine. I can't find my profiles on windows 8 to rebuild the global database.

I,ve been using Thunderbird successfully on my HP Pavilion p6060a (Vista) including attaching documents (pdf and/or Word) to outgoing emails via the notice that appears at the end of the draft email when the words "attach" or "attached" are inserted. However, in the past few days this facility has not worked, and when attempted, leads to a "crash" of Thunderbird. I've tried uninstalling Thunderbird and reinstalling it but it still doesn't help. I've also sent off several reports of the crashes to Mozilla with no response. Help!

Hi, I created an html signature in Thunderbird about 2 months ago and, up until this morning, it was working just fine. Now, when I save or send an email, I get this message (I use Thunderbird un French so this is a translation): "A problem occurred during the insertion of a98h.png in the message file. Do you want to continue sending the message without the file?" The strange thing is that there are 3 images in my signature and only 2 seem to be causing a problem. All 3 are hosted on Imageshack. I even tried re-uploading them and using new urls, but I get the same problem. Do you know why I have this problem? Thanks,
