Thunderbird is getting error messager 550-"SC-002 [COLO-MC3-F42] when I send to my wife's Hotmail address
Dear Friends,
I can Email my wife at [elainefraser43@hotmail.co.uk] from my Gmail account:
I can Email myself [ralphfraser1@talktalk.net], which is on "Thunderbird", from her Hotmail account:
BUT, when I attempt to Email HER via "Thunderbird" my Emails are rejected, and I get the above-mentioned Unknown address error 550-"SC-002 [COLO-MC3-F42] failure message!!
This is all WELL above my head!!
Please can you explain what needs to be done here???
Regards,
Ralph Fraser

Thank you. If it had not returned to normal I would have contacted ePhone Co-op.

It's not you, it's your ISP: your mail is rejected by Hotmail because someone using your ISP has been identified as a spammer or otherwise undesirable sender. You will probably have to ask your ISP to contact Hotmail and have themselves removed from the blacklist.
Dear sfhowes,
Many thanks for your swift response, to which I am now able to respond.
Thinking that by referring to my ISP your mean "talktalk", I eventually made contact with an 'agent' in the Philippines.
I was asked to go to the 'talktalk' web-page and send an email to my wife [who is on Hotmail] from there.
The message got through, but clearly without the involvement of "Thunderbird". So, what does this suggest.
What should i be doing next?

I have exactly the same problem. My emails from my talktalk account through Thunderbird go happily to all addresses except Hotmail addresses. Since yesterday, all emails to Hotmail addresses get returned undelivered. I also spoke to talktalk and sent an email to a Hotmail address through the Talktalk web page - no problem - it went OK. Talktalk say it must be a Thunderbird issue. HELP!
Sending from the talktalk web page is not exactly the same as sending via a program like TB. Users report the same problem with Windows Live Mail and Mac Mail.
This has been an issue with talktalk for at least a year, as you can see by reading their "support" forum:

I have the same problem with hotmail addresses and don't know what to do.
How does one do that?
I cannot comment on all issues on this thread, but, my problem, as a TalkTalk client was that I and others were 'somehow' on a Microsoft 'blacklist!!
Direct action from TT resolved this unfortunate error in the Microsoft system...

I think it has resolved itself now as one message I "sent" about 10.30pm last night arrrived at a hotmail address this morning.
I am glad you are 'back to normal'
I am in England and complained to my ISP [TalkTalk], who in turn, took up the matter with Microsoft...
