Cannot install malwarebytes because an old version is on the computer and the uninstall portion is gone?

page comes up asking me to update codec performer. Have not done that. When trying to install malwarebytes it won't let me and says it can't uninstall an older version as the uninstall is missing. How can I install a new malwarebytes so as to try to get rid of this codec performer popup? Need help.
