I saw a similar issue listed except they had an option to click a [x] on these rectangles. For me they have nothing clickable, no border, just white rectangles of varying size that can't be removed. They appear a few seconds after the bulk of a page and its text appears, often allowing me to read most of 1 sentence before it becomes impossible to read anymore because of white rectangles in the way.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox (you need to close and restart Firefox).

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
