There's advice that doesn't apply to me above. I'm not getting an error message. I'm just getting no response at all when I hit the icon or go to the start menu. Downloading Firefox again doesn't do anything to change this. It's just GONE. Converting to chrome, unless someone has some idea of why this is happening..

Hi edadlez,

Right, I understand you are getting no error. Downloading Firefox again will not fix the problem as it keeps the profile intact. The Firefox won't start - find solutions article has a No Error Message header with relevant information.

What I would suggest is starting Firefox in safe mode, a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode" Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

If Firefox does start in safe mode, your problem is probably caused by an add-ons, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article (start from "the problem does not occur in safe mode") to find the cause.
