Text does not display properly -- parts of letters missing, some with shadows, etc.

It doesn't always happen, but it usually does. Affects email and text on websites, especially (I think) those in smaller fonts. Sometimes it resolves itself after a minute or two. Doesn't happen in IE.

Thanks to you and Phillip for your help. I turned this issue over to our IT guys, who updated the driver but also did some other tweaks too (something to do with fonts). The problem went away, but they're not sure what they did that fixed it.

hello Commatose, maybe that's an issue with hardware acceleration - please try updating your graphics driver, or in case this doesn't solve the issue or there is no new version available at the moment, disable hardware acceleration in firefox > options > advanced > general.

Note that your System Details List shows a rather old graphics display driver: driverDate: 4-19-2011

Try to set the gfx.content.azure.enabled pref to false or if this didn't help disable Direct2D by setting the gfx.direct2d.disabled pref to true on the about:config page and leave hardware acceleration otherwise enabled.

That way you still have the benefit from hardware acceleration, but may not suffer from rendering issues.
