Hi,

My answer is not an exact solution for your problem. But I hope it will help you...

See, in bookmarks, we have something called "urls" saved to our computer. Now, try to open your bookmarks in firefox, in different tabs... It doesn't matters how many bookmarks you have, just open them all....

Now, download and install a firefox addon called "session manager".

URL: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/

After installing this addon, go to Firefox -> Sesion Manager -> Session Manager -> Session Manager Options. (or to Tools -> Session Manager -> Session Manager -> Session Manager Options)

Go to "Advanced" tab.

Now change the default location for saving the session. Say you name it to your desktop, as shown in the picture.

Now, you have "Session Manager" addon installed, the default location of saving the session file is known to you, and you are running all your saved bookmarks in the browser.

Now go to, "Firefox -> Session Manager -> Session Manager -> Save Session" and give your session a name under the option "Save the current session as". (or to "Tools -> Session Manager -> Session Manager -> Save Session")

Suppose you give your session a name called "New Session". In your default location of saving the session (say your desktop), you will get a file named "New Session.session"

Now this file is the key. It's a small file and you can simply email it to yourself or carry it to your work with you.

After this, format your PC completely, or wipe out your hard disk completely. The file is uploaded in your email which is accessible from anywhere. You can even keep this file in your pendrive.

Now after re-installing your Windows and Firefox, simply re-install Session Manager addon. Again, keep the file "New Session.session" in your desktop after giving the default path of saving the session to your desktop location.

The Session Manager addon will pick this last saved session file and you will have access to URL's of your saved bookmarks.

This seems similar to copy and pasting URL's but if you have a high number of bookmarks, this trick and can solve it.

thanks

You can also make backups locally (e.g. a removable USB jump drive) because it is always possible that you notice missing bookmarks too late and backups stored locally or elsewhere already have been overwritten by faulty versions.
With a local backup you can control how many older versions to keep.

I this article is the best answer for your question, as suggested by cor-el, pls follow his links or this article:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-bookmarks-from-backup-or-move-them?esab=a&as=aaq

Simply, when you get a file, just email it to yourself and you will have it forever...

Your best bet is to use a Cloud-based bookmark manager like Listango.com. You can import your bookmarks from Firefox or Chrome and they are always available for you from any device you use.
