A screen shot will be pointless.

He asked if there is way for the findbar to stay open even when you switch to other tabs in the Firefox 25.0b11 the OP is using.

This new bar is totally ugly. I was relying on ALT+N and ALT+P hotkeys in the old bar, and now they are gone :(

I am soo sad about this

If there is no way to revert to the old find bar with hotkeys then I'm gonna downgrade to Firefox 24

I have posted a bug in the bugzilla https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=933011 If you're interested in the fix, please vote - I hope that'll help

Thank you Philipp. I appreciate it.

Findbar Tweak is a bit 'heavy'. I think there should be a built-in setting for that.

I made an account on here to say: Yes the old functionality of the find bar was preferred.

Second there should be a simple option to bring it back. Having to use an add-on is way too heavy handed.

You can press the F3 key to make the Find bar appear automatically and perform a search with the previously used search terms.
Only the Find bar is hidden, but the last used search term is remembered.

Except that Find Bar Tweak DOES NOT WORK!!!!

What idiot at Mozilla made these changes?

Verizon Digital Voice works like a 1980's modem with FireFox 24 and 25.

Disqus doesn't work at all.

Vintage Erotica Forums will not display half of the postings.

ETC, ETC, ETC.

IE is better than this piece of junk!

I've wasted this evening trying to solve these problems. Problems that should NOT exist.

Tomorrow, a new plan. Move every thing to Chrome or IE.

The find bar on a 'per tab basis' is ludicrous. Please give us back the ability to leave it always open or always closed. And I don't want a tweak, add-on or plugin.

This is really annoying, it is one of the things I thought was superior in Firefox.

Ugh... why do you do this to us!

Hi,

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. (You'll need to be on the latest version of Firefox to submit feedback). Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

Thanks to W_F_F for the FF feedback link. I posted this there:

The changes to the Find bar in Firefox 25 are not an improvement. Please give users the option to restore the bar to its previous look and functionality. If you look in the user forums you will see that mine is not a lone voice on this issue. Thanks in advance for considering my request.

--Eric M (longtime Firefox user and proponent)

PS-- I'm disappointed to see Mozilla following the unfortunate current business trend of presenting users with infantile options in customer service interfaces--the "Firefox Made Me Sad" / "Firefox Made Me Happy" silliness on the feedback page, for example. You guys should not be contributing to the dumbing-down of humanity--it's already happening fast enough.

Note that we are not developers and didn't influence the decision, as said in my last post.

Yes, I saw that. Just posted above as FYI to anyone interested that I'd thrown my two cents' worth on at the feedback page.

I upgraded to 25 (from FIFTEEN) to submit my complaints - and now I'm going back down... I do not understand why anyone would dummy down the browser so much, hide things, and expect you to realize that you can still press f3 to find the next item (when the find bar is INVISIBLE) - what a waste of time and how silly.

I really disagree with ALL The changes to the find bar - I've found an almost fix from Cor-el on the buttons - but there is still no fix posted for making it visible ALL the time in ALL tabs.

Partial fix here: (for the words being removed and the highlight bar being moved) https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/976166

Any ideas for fixing this topics problem?

Thanks

I (as well) made an account on here to say: Yes the old functionality of the find bar was MUCH preferred. For the first time I'm no longer updating Firefox. Reverted back to version 24.

One of the bad effects of the change is that if you open several tabs (eg using Ctrl-click on a link or middle-clicking the link), search for a string in the first one, switch to the next tab and press F3 to search again, it won't find any matches there because it is no longer searching for the same string.

The above described situation is exactly why I'm sticking to version 24 until this is fixed.
