Thanks for clarifying. Sorry about the misinformation.

Some questions as this thread seems to have people who know what they are talking about here (1) As updates have to be pushed out by the phone companies does anyone know how committed ZTE are to supporting this phone? (2) As Firefox os matures is there a time that new updates will require updated hardware or will they be hardware independent? (3) Is it possible to 'flash' the ZTE open (all associated risks of bricking it accepted) should support be slow or stopped?
Thanks and have a great day
1. ZTE is committed to supporting this phone, however we don't have numbers or dates for future releases, if any. 2. Yes, eventually updates will require new hardware, certain updates require them for reasons outside our control. 3. It is possible to flash the Open, however it's very tricky and beyond the scope of this forum.
A post on another forum stated "If you have the orange ZTE Open from Ebay the 13MB System Update will fail and will appear again after the reboot. This System Update notice is safe to ignore, but cannot be cleared. It is reported as a bug and is being worked on by parters, our apologies for this inconvenience.” This is the most relevant update. source
Geeksphones now have 1.2. ZTE continue to drag feet.
Hello My problem is this, if not the same as mentioned here. Thank you.
Solutions for the same issue are offered in another thread: /questions/971252.
When I update my ZTE Open bought from Spain's Movistar, it sais there was a problem downloading the update. The relevant part from logcat is the following, for whom may care: https://gist.github.com/postal2600/6915272
I will try to update using the SD card, so I don't care if this is fixed or not, but I thought it might help some one :)
Line 19: I/Gecko ( 115): UpdatePrompt: Warning: no patches available in update is interesting.. You can file a bug for this at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org
Thanks!
With finger on the pulse, 1.1 should drop anytime soon. Mozilla plan quarterly feature updates, with more frequent security patches.
It'll be worth the wait!
I have been in the wireless industry for 20+ years and was very excited to get my hands on the ZTE Open. Missed it the first go around on eBay but got it the 2nd time but with all of these problems I am reading and no solutions or even acknowledgements from ZTE that they care I wonder if I should have spent that 80.00 on a used original Droid or something. I am very concerned now.
sharkmobile, please be rest assured of your purchase. We are glad to assist you with any issues you may have when your device arrives or even before hand. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Since this update fiasco began, my ZTE has yet to update again. My last update was in August. Any ideas how to resolve this?
I appreciate your quick response to my statement but my concern is the update to OS 1.1 which it looks like is becoming an issue. My phone did arrive today and I have had the same issues it will not update and will not sync Facebook contacts. So I'm not feeling the love right now. This is my first ever ZTE product. I own 7 wireless stores and have considered in the past carrying ZTE but I don't know. I know they are not alone in this. Mozilla is involved just as Google is involved with Android and the phone makers but I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling and I so want to love this phone.
sharkmobile: What WiFi help is that if you created your own question so we can assist you better and keep track better and in the end file bugs, that would be very beneficial. We are working with device manufacturers to release the update but at the moment it isn't available just quite yet so that's why it may show that you have an error. As to Facebook importing, try rebooting the device and if that doesn't work, it should in version 1.1 which will be out real soon! thanks!!
I'm still on V.1.0.1, last updated in August. This seems like a long time to wait for ZTE. Are they waiting for a wider adoption prior to pushing a fix?
I'd rather they get it right, then totally screw up. I guess we all need patience (@feer56);
"...version 1.1 which will be out real soon! thanks!!"
